Welcome to The Amendment

The Amendment is my personal blog where I analyze international politics and law, particularly from a Eurocentric security perspective. This platform allows me to share in-depth perspectives on major global events, and I encourage you to share your thoughts as well.

Why The Amendment?

I started The Amendment in 2025 as a passion project—an evolution of my short-form commentary on LinkedIn and Instagram. While social media posts felt limiting, this blog gives me the space to explore complex geopolitical and legal issues in greater depth. It’s also a personal challenge to refine my writing, research, and analytical skills.

About Me

My name is Mo Ismael. I was born in Saudi Arabia but grew up in the Netherlands. I hold a bachelor’s degree in International & European Law from The Hague and am currently pursuing a master’s in Public International Law at Utrecht University, specializing in conflict and security.

I aspire to serve in the Dutch government and have experience at both the municipal and national levels, including brief involvement in municipal politics. My main interest lies in European autonomy and security, especially in light of Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine and its expansionist rhetoric.

Let’s Connect
